Welcome Home Toone Family!

Today was amazing! It was an honor to do this project and give back to one family. The public outpouring of support hopefully shows our veterans how much they are loved by this community. We have not done a makeover like this before. We just met the Toone family two weeks ago! This was pulled together quickly. NBC News asked us to find a project for an upcoming newscast. We originally thought we would soundproof and paint and that would be it. As things progressed, more and and more people stepped forward and offered to help. And when people work on these projects they bring their absolute best. As one contractor said "If I am going to give, it is going to be the best!" We were so impressed at the willingness of everyone to help out a vet. Everything that was added was awesome and so many people gave so much. So to all who gave time or donated thank you. I know it had an effect on the Toone's and the military community. We had a military chaplain visiting from Washington DC last night and he could not get over what our community can do when we put our mind to something! Also thanks to the Toone family for allowing and trusting us to come in your home and tear it apart! And having faith we would put it all back together. We hope you love your home and know how much everyone loves you! See you all on the next project!

Amazing day 1 at the Toone family makeover  We had a busy day and got a lot done. We had some big donations step forward today and things are coming together really well. Thanks to all the people and contractors who have made this house better for this family! We are still looking for counter tops and a fridge.

Shout out to the Lehi High Basketball team and Coach Yeager for coming out to the Toone house tonight. We had 35 players show up and it was awesome! It is amazing to see how fast a house can get painted. Fun to see the boys get involved in community projects! Thanks also to Tyler Hawkins and Xavier Painting for directing these guys!

 Stay tuned...

Heart 2 Home has big news! Our next home makeover will begin next week! It is a project we are really exited about because it allows us to help a war veteran who has given so much for his country. The makeover will be for Kenneth and Angie Toone. Kenneth served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Since his return he has suffered from the emotional scars that war provides. Our goal is to remodel several parts of his home. We are looking for framers, painters, decorators, flooring, appliances and other home related items. One of the major needs is soundproofing his room. We are also excited to announce NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt will be in town to film the makeover. Please come out and help us make this soldiers home great!

This is what we need:

Master Bedroom:

The room is too small.  We need to tear out the wall and combine 2 rooms to make a large master for Kenneth and Angie.  We also need to soundproof this room.

 The stairs need new carpet:

The kitchen needs to be updated.  New appliances,  new flooring.  The sliding glass door needs to be repaired.

The family room needs new flooring and needs to be updated.

14 year old boy's bedroom needs a door and a makeover:  Taken!  Thank you sponsors

15 year old girl's bedroom needs a makeover:  Taken!  Thank you sponsors!

The family would love a firepit in the backyard.  Taken!  Thank you Great Western Landscaping

The downstairs bathroom:  The floor needs to be replaced.  There are holes in the ceiling that need to be patched.  We need to decorate it.

New Furnace

Tin roof on the back porch

Man door from garage to the backyard installed.

Plumbing in the laundry room.

New windows throughout the home.

We need alot of electical work throughout the house.

We need decorators to come and decorate rooms

We need help.  From plumbing, to carpeting, dry wallers, electricians, to decorators.  We just need some help.

Get Involved in The Cancer Wellness Makeover

Heart 2 Home and Cancer Wellness House

Home Makeover June 8-12

Who is Cancer Wellness and what do they do?

They Support people living with cancer and their families in a home-like setting.
Nearly every family in the Salt Lake Valley is affected by cancer in one way or another. While there are local healthcare providers ensuring quality cancer treatment, such as chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, there continues to be an unmet need in the continuum of care for holistic and integrative socio-emotional survivorship and quality of life programming for the patient and their family. Cancer Wellness House actively pursues filling this need in our community.
Cancer Wellness House is 100% committed to ensuring that NO ONE faces cancer alone.  And they do it all for free!!!

Who is Heart 2 Home?
Kids Clubhouse
We are a team of volunteers organizing local communities, businesses, and sponsors, in gifting home renovations. No salaries are paid to officers or staff - all donations go directly to promotion. We are a part of Heart 2 Home not for any financial gain but simply to help within the community and to help a group or individual who cannot help themselves.  Heart 2 Home was started in 2004 with the dream of making one families Christmas a little brighter in down town Salt Lake. The first home was a complete renovation for a widowed mother with two dependent adult children. Since that time, Heart 2 Home has done over 20 home makeovers.  Ranging from complete home tear downs, bedroom makeovers, to creating wheel-chair accessible bathrooms.

Why the Makeover on the Cancer Wellness House?
Because the work they do is so amazing!  Everyone is effected with cancer.  They either know someone who has it or have had it themselves.  It is a problem and it sucks!  The people at Cancer Wellness are looking for solutions in coping, healing and surviving.  They do this out of two small historical homes in the avenues of Salt Lake City.
Massage Room

What Needs to Be Done?
Lots of stuff!  The homes have been in disrepair for years.  Some of the items we would like to fix are adding walls to separate therapy rooms, paint and decorate massage and acupuncture rooms, convert the bathroom to ADA compliance, remodel the Yoga and kids clubs, shape up the landscaping, electrical, plumbing and heating, and much more.

What is Our Plan?
Our plan like all Heart 2 Home projects is to get lots of people involved and to do miracles!  We are not asking anyone to take on the whole project.  If you can’t build a wall or fix a toilet that is ok because we need you to paint or landscape.  When lots of people get involved big things happen!  The home has been divided by rooms and areas.  We are asking families, businesses or individuals to take on projects and make it better than when you began.
